Students will design and create innovative solutions for today’s problems. These solutions will be in the form of app design and development, building electrical circuits, coding algorithms using a variety of computer languages (JavaScript, Python, Karel, HTML/CSS), build websites, problem-solve with drag-and-drop programming, and mastermind Minecraft, Kinect games, video games, robotics, and more. Computer science is the new black! It’s hip and cool to know how to program. We will also take advantage of competing in different app contests as well as take field trips to computer science rock star places in the DC area.

What are we doing now?

  • We have one team of Young Kings who designed an app which they submitted and entry into the Verizon App Challenge contest. Click here to see the video.
  • We have a team of three Young Kings who will present at the Think it Up sales pitch at Cardoza High School on November 15, 2016. At Think it Up DC the team won the Expanding Opportunity Award and won $1000 towards our DonorsChoose.org proposal for a classroom set of 3D glasses for virtual reality opportunities in the classroom.
