Graduation and Promotion Requirements
To receive a DCPS diploma, students who enroll in 9th grade for the first time in School Year 2007-2008 and thereafter must earn 24.0 credits. (1.0 credit = a full year course and .5 credit = A one semester course)
Students will be expected to take a one-credit ELA, Math, Science, and Social Studies course in 9th grade, 10th grade, 11th grade, and 12th grade
Promotion Requirements
Grade 9 to Grade 10
6 Credits, including one ELA course and one Mathematics course
Grade 10 to Grade 11
12 Credits, including 2 ELA courses and any combination of 2 mathematics and/or science courses
Grade 11 to Grade 12
18 Credits, including 3 ELA courses and any combination of 3mathematics and/or science courses
Possible elective course offerings per grade level and in four years
o Studio art (multiple levels), ceramics, computer graphics, advanced art, Adobe Photoshop
o Acting, costume/scene design, playwriting
o Intro to programming, Blogging, Keyboarding (mandatory), Microsoft Office
o Introduction to coding, Cisco, Java, etc.
o ELA 9-12, Literature/composition I, II, III, AP American Literature, AP English Language, AP English Literature, Humanities through Film, Hip Hop and Poetry, Creative Writing, Newspaper, Yearbook
