Spanish

Course Description

Spanish introduces Young Kings to the language through a variety of culturally responsive and engaging units. This course introduces the fundamental elements of the Spanish language within a cultural context. The emphasis is on the development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Our Young Kings will learn how to communicate in Spanish, while also learning how to understand both the language and the cultures that speak Spanish. The course follows the DCPS Scope and Sequence standards for World Languages and includes units focused on introductions and getting to know others, family and friends, food, the school environment, and students’ interests and past times. Upon completion, Young Kings should be able to comprehend and respond with grammatical accuracy to spoken and written Spanish as well as demonstrate cultural awareness.
